After the sudden Conditional Movement Control Order in the central states was announced, some Malaysians chose to start panic buying supplies while there were also some Malaysians who started to balik kampung to “escape” the CMCO.
In fact, highways were congested on 13 October as many used the one day gap to return to their hometowns.
However, in his live press conference yesterday, Health DG Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that balik kampung might be dangerous as you can never be sure if you’re the virus carrier.
“You’re supposed to be protecting the elderly people back home as they’re more susceptible to the virus.”
He urged the people of Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Putrajaya to just stay home and to only leave their homes for emergencies.” Even if you have to leave, make sure to maintain physical distancing and wear your mask as this is only the way the infection transmission can be cut by 82 to 85 per cent,” he said.
According to Harian Metro, the Health DG even said that there’s a possibility of Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) being enforced in these three areas if there are localities with high Covid-19 cases.
Their method would be to target the area specifically and screen everyone in the area even non-Malaysians. Positive individuals will be isolated and given treatment in hospitals.
If you have returned to your hometowns for the CMCO, make sure to stay there until the CMCO ends. Make sure to obey SOPs and together we will flatten the curve again.
