Reduce, reuse and recycle is the motto you want to live by if you want to do your part to help save the environment and many brands have been jumping on the bandwagon as well. Now, one of the companies that want to make a positive impact on the environment is L’Occitane Malaysia.

In case you didn’t know, they actually have a recycling programme where you can bring your empty beauty products containers to their shops so that they are properly disposed of. This programme is known as Big Little Things and was launched on Earth Day, 22 April in a bid to minimise the harm on Mother Nature.

L’Occitane Malaysia has collaborated with iCYCLE Malaysia to collect the recyclables that are processed and repurposed into other products to give them a new lease on life. iCYCLE is a company that specialises in recycling waste that cannot be recycled through the usual processes and L’Occitane is working hard to make recycling more accessible for everyone.

As of December 2020, they have collected more than 735,000 dry and cleaned beauty empties to save up to 60 tonnes of aluminium, paper and metal from going into landfills in Jenjarom, Selangor. The initiative has also saved up to 36.37 tonnes fewer greenhouse gases in the air we breathe, which is equivalent to 60 units of Perodua Myvi cars!

That’s not all, you can also collect points and then redeem them for gifts from L’Occitane when you recycle!

By the end of each cycle (1 cycle = 100 empties), you would have received 10 L’Occitane beauty treats with two cash vouchers worth RM10 each! L’Occitane is also offering a special perk for their members to opt for point redemption! 10 qualified empties will be taken as 10 member points.

Here’s what you need to know:

  1. For first-timers, you can participate by creating a profile and logging in.
  2. You can bring any full-sized empty container of beauty and skincare products to the participating stores. Make sure that it’s dry, clean and full-sized containers.
  3. L’Occitane accepts empty recyclables from ANY brand.
  4. L’Occitane’s beauty advisors will check your empties and accept those that are ready for recycling.
  5. For every empty, full-sized L’Occitane container, you will receive one stamp. Smaller containers are accepted for recycling but not eligible for stamps.
  6. Visit any of the participating L’Occitane stores to drop off the items

These are the stores that are participating in this recycling programme at the moment:
