A mother in China recently had to seek help from the police to remove a bicycle lock from her neck after her 4-year-old child put it on her and forgot the unlock code.

According to Oddity Central, the young mother walked into the police station in Huai’an, China’s Jiangsu Province, with a grey and yellow bicycle U-lock around her neck. According to her, her son was playing with the lock next to her as she was cleaning the bathroom when he suddenly put it around her neck and locked it.

At first, she thought it was all fun and games since she knew the unlock code for the bicycle lock. However, things took a turn when she realized that her son had somehow changed the unlock code and neither of them knew the combination to unlock it.

Lock 1

“He suddenly put it around my neck and locked it. I couldn’t unlock it with the code I had set and I had no idea know how many times he changed it, so I panicked,” the woman told the police.

The police tried to help the woman but they couldn’t do much. Hence, they called a team of local firefighters.

They took a small towel and placed it between the woman’s neck and the bicycle lock while struggling to cut it with two pairs of wire cutters.

Lock 2

As soon as the lock came off from her neck and the woman sighed in relief.

One of the firefighters told her “You should bring your son here, we’ll help educate him,” to which she answered that she had already spanked him for his naughty behaviour.

The woman’s story and the video footage of the lock removal went viral on social media, with most people commenting about the need for boundaries to be set by parents in order to avoid situations like this.
