Catfishing is nothing new in the world, with many fake profiles on social media have tricked hundreds and thousands of people out of money and many more.
Such as the cased in China as a mother of two in Beijing, China began looking at other men in order to have ‘fun’, following her husbands busy scheduled with work.
Beginning much of her work in 2017, Zhang went other the fake name of Zhou Mo and impersonated as a single mother to our, luring unsuspecting men to be in a relationship with her.
According to Kompas.com, the lady in question used her charms to not only find love but to distort 400,000 yuan from her victims under the pretence that they were helping her pay off rent, medical bills and managing her two children.
Her scam, however, was later revealed by a would-be victim when he did a background check on Zhang in August. She was later apprehended by the authorities and Zhang’s family members had no idea what she has done in the past two years.
Upon apprehension by the authorities a month later, Zhang confessed that she has spent all the money she received on online gambling.
As for Zhang’s husband, the man was shocked but happy that Zhang is finally caught and be met with swift justice by the law.
Currently, Zhang is set to undergo prison time of eight years and five months and will be fined 40,000 yuan at the same time.
