A woman injured her forehead while trying to defend her father from their next-door neighbour who was armed with a sickle. The incident took place yesterday, 20 April, in Taman Permatang Tinggi Indah.
According to Harian Metro, at 4.10 pm, the 27-year-old woman saw a verbal fight happening between her 52-year-old father and a 42-year-old male neighbour in front of their home.
Seberang Perai Tengah District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Shafee Abd Samad said that at the time, the neighbour held a sickle and pointed it at the woman’s father.
“The woman, who was worried about her father’s safety, then tried to stop her neighbour, but she ended up being injured when the left side of her forehead was hit by the sickle,” he said.
“Immediately after the incident, the suspect fled and the woman went to be treated at a private hospital in Butterworth,” he added.
He then explained that the police who were informed about the incident of the fight rushed to the location to conduct an investigation.
“Through the investigation carried out, it was found that the cause of the fight was due to a misunderstanding that led to an argument between the neighbours who lived next door to each other.
“The neighbour (suspect) was not satisfied and scolded the woman’s father because the water used to wash pigeon droppings was found to have entered the area of his house,” he said.
Shafee said the police confiscated the sickle used in the incident and assured that efforts to track down the suspect who fled were in full swing.
The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code.
