Maybe click before jumping to conclusions next time?
If you happen to visit any Malaysian government website, there’s typically a language option that will allow you to either maintain the website in Bahasa Malaysia or switch the website to English or a language of your preference. The symbol for the language switch usually looks like this:
If you click on the Britain flag, the website will automatically be converted to English for users who are not proficient in Bahasa Malaysia. The Britain flag is used as a symbol for English-speaking foreigners to access the website and have a better understanding of its content.
However, this netizen completely misinterpreted the symbol found on the Pejabat Mufti website and jumped to the conclusion of the flag being a propaganda movement.
“I have a question, why is the British flag there, are the British interrupting the mufti’s business?”
The image was posted in the Facebook group, Jabatan Netizen Negara who called out the netizen for not doing thorough research and just blindly posting on social media. Netizens in the comment section also insulted the netizen in their choice words for purposely inciting a fight among Malaysians.
Make sure to conduct thorough research before you post something online. Just remember that the Internet never forgets!
