Malaysian cross-dressers Deacon Chai and Bryan Wee have come under fire after entering a female washroom. The situation escalated after a non-governmental organisation (NGO) lodged a police report against them.
In a Facebook post, the Chairman of Pertubuhan Ikatan Cina Melaka (PICM) stated that he filed the report at the Kajang Police Station, emphasising that it is not only illegal for men to enter female washrooms, but such actions could also spark racial tension.
“What if there was a Muslim woman adjusting her hijab in the washroom? What if they screamed?”

He added that while he understands Deacon and Bryan may be embracing their feminine energy, it becomes problematic when it causes discomfort to others—especially if it encourages other men to disguise themselves as women to take inappropriate photos in female washrooms.
“They’re just doing this to boost engagement. Have they ever thought about how this could affect younger generations?”
The chairman also criticised the duo for dressing indecently as women during a recent trip to China, where they claimed to be promoting “Malaysian culture.” He said their actions brought embarrassment to the country.
“This not only tarnishes Malaysia’s image but also the reputation of Malaysian Chinese.”

Both individuals were previously arrested by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) in 2022 for public indecency and later issued a public apology.
Bryan and Deacon could face prison term
Following the police report, Malaysian lawyer Lim stated that both individuals could face a prison term of up to three months, a fine of RM1,000, or both, under Section 447 of the Penal Code for criminal trespass.
He explained that Malaysia legally recognises only two genders—male and female.
“Even if a person undergoes gender reassignment surgery, their legal gender remains unchanged under Malaysian law.”
“If a man undergoes surgery to become a woman, his gender status is still considered male. His identification card still lists him as male,” Lim told Kwong Wah Daily.
Lim also noted that the police could take further action under Section 509 of the Penal Code (up to five years’ imprisonment) and Section 294 (up to three months) for public indecency.
