Content creation is NOT all about boosting your engagement. Sometimes, you have to take into account the consequences that will follow after posting your content.
Malaysian YouTubers, Dissy recently shared a video that hints at internet celebrities who found fame through content without quality. 2 of Dissy’s members, Adeline and Jasper filmed a parody of the Joker 2 trailer and spread awareness about “going all out” for content and engagement.
The short clip is known as “Do You Want Fame? Do You Want to Break the Law?”, where Adeline is spotted in a red floral dress, similar to Malaysia’s infamous Adeline who dodged paying e-hailing fare.
In the video, Jasper is seen creating content but with little to zero engagement, until he meets Adeline, who was seen filming herself next door. Chaos erupts after Jasper meets Adeline, very much like when Joker met Harley Quinn in the Joker 2 trailer.
On the road to fame, Jasper and Adeline goes all out in their content by doing immoral and illegal things, including not paying bills and beating up people.
Yes, the pair also runs away from an e-hailing driver who tells them to pay their fare. Sounds familiar?
After their content goes viral, Adeline and Jasper see a massive increase in their number of fans and followers. It’s like the pair were meant to cross paths.
The video, which criticises the phenomenon of “low-quality Malaysian internet celebrities” won the hearts of many social media users, with many praising the direction and message of the video, as well as Adeline, who played the role of “Adeline”.
“I really have to give Adeline 2 thumbs up! A different and better Adeline.”
“Professional team, professional shoot, good clip.”
“Great video, full of feels! Your passion is back!”
“Dissy is back, the old version is back!”
“Everyone should reflect on this topic. Don’t give your time and chances to those who don’t deserve it. Today, engagement is all about money.”
“Love this Adeline! Good acting!”
