Taking to Twitter, this netizen shared a video of this Italian, sharing his opinion on why locals and Malaysians should look after Penang’s environment and not take it as collateral damage in the name of development.

Taking to Twitter, this netizen writes: “This Italian deserves a medal. He has enumerated clearly about the colateral damages to the ecosystem, environment, the livelihood of fishermen and the false prospect of providing employment from proposed reclamation land projects. 

Here is a video of this Italian in action.

In his video, he shared: “I’ve lived here since I was 17-years-old. Now, when I come back to Penang, it feels like I’m going back to my own hometown.”

“When I speak to my friends in Penang, many do not know where is Kampung Sungai Batu and the realities these fishermen are made to face.”

“It astounds me how much Penangites love seafood but do not know where it comes from.”

“Land reclamation projects are destroying the livelihood of fishermen.”

“What if, one day, fishermen are unable to continue fishing? What will happen to this community.”

In the video, this netizen continues to voice the plight of the local community, stating that it is important to maintain certain status quos.
