Safety on the road is never guaranteed, as accidents can happen anytime and anywhere. On September 17th (Tuesday), dashcam footage of an accident went viral, capturing the attention of many netizens.

In footage shared by @update11111, an uncle can be seen crashing his motorcycle with great force into a car coming from the opposite direction.

An SUV hit the rider, causing him to veer into the other lane

In the footage, the uncle attempts to continue straight but fails to avoid a black SUV that has just emerged from a junction and made a right turn, resulting in a slight collision.

This impact causes the uncle to veer into the adjacent lane, crashing into another car and prompting the driver to scream in fear, which can be heard in the video.

The SUV left and continued on its way

Despite the collision and the uncle ending up on the ground after crashing into another car, the SUV driver remained unfazed and left the scene without stopping.

However, many passersby stopped to check on the rider’s condition. Since he hit the top part of the car’s hood, just below the windshield, with his head (thankfully protected by a helmet), it’s unclear whether he sustained any serious injuries.

Netizens have been vocal with their opinions on the incident, with some pointing out that the rider is at fault.

“But it looks like there are many cases like this where motorcycles don’t slow down at intersections when there’s a line of cars stopped.”

Motor 2

“Can’t motorcycle riders slow down in crowded areas?”

Motor 3

“Why did the uncle speed up even though he knew the area was congested and the road was busy? It’s like the auntie calling from home to tell him to buy rice.”

Motor 4

“There was a big gap there, so you could reasonably expect a car to come out. The uncle had time to brake if he wasn’t driving so fast. I would have continued driving too, like the SUV did, if it happened to me.”

While others still hold the SUV driver responsible for initially hitting the rider.

Car 1

“The black SUV is at fault. The real victim is actually the rider.”

Car 2

“But you can’t blame the motorcycle. There wasn’t a yellow box for the blue car to stop in, it was just stopping to give way to the black SUV. Also, the double lines on the road are broken, meaning overtaking is allowed. The worst part was that the black SUV just drove off without stopping.”

Car 3

“The black SUV driver was clearly at fault for not being alert to the motorcycle. But the blue car was also to blame. I personally wouldn’t stop to let a car out of a junction unless there’s a yellow box. We can’t predict what’s behind us. The motorcycle didn’t know what was ahead either, which is why you shouldn’t stop thinking you’re giving way. Always consider the traffic behind you first.”
