When out and about, we sometimes encounter rude staff or employees that do not perform their jobs properly and correctly. This can often lead to a disagreement between a customer and a staff member.

Recently, a video of an argument between a cashier and a customer at a supermarket went viral.

In the video which has been circulating on social media, the fight happened at the payment counter when one of the customers wanted to pay for the item he bought but was left angry after the cashier had told them to go to another counter as her counter was closing.

The cashier in question had already put the signage that her counter was closing, however, the customer said that she did not do so and rudely told them to go to another counter.

The customer in the video insisted on the cashier to scan for their items as well.

As the customer continued to complain about the cashier, she eventually asked another staff member to switch places with her so that she would not have to deal with the said customer.

Who is in the wrong?

The video has gone viral on multiple social media platforms with netizens sharing their 2-cents on the matter. Some was in support of the customer and said that the cashier was in the wrong for being rude.

“The cashier is also in the wrong. She didn’t put the closing sign, and raised her voice. If she had put the sign then no customers would’ve queued up.”

Clearly the cashier is in the wrong. If you are closing you have to inform in advance and not just keep quiet,” said a user.

Others sided with the cashier and said that the customer could’ve just avoided creating a fuss by going to another payment counter.

“This type of customer surely wants to be treated like a king. Comes when it is about to close and then pretends like they did nothing wrong.”

Another condemned the video taker for wanting to make such a small issue viral. “You can just settle it nicely rather than expose people like this,” they added.

Meanwhile, a user who claimed to be the friend of the cashier took to the post to explain what had happened.

“If you see on CCTV, the mother (of the customer) queued up even after the cashier told her that she’s closing, but yet she remained in line.”

“My friend’s shift was ending at 7 and it was 6 something at that time. She only closed the counter because her supervisor told her to,” said the cashier’s friend.
