Day after day, we’re hearing of more and more places getting hit with floods. Just last week, it started flooding in Kelantan and Terengganu, and yesterday, it started flooding in KL.
Now, the floods have taken to new heights as one of the floors of a high rise condominium, is also flooding.
A video shared to the 我们是马来西亚人 We are Malaysians Facebook page showcases a condominium unit on the 19th floor flooding, after water started rushing through what appears to be a pipe at the side of the balcony.
They wrote, “Stay at high rise building also (can) flood.”
This incident is suspected to have taken place in Kuchai Lama.
In the video, water could be seen rushing out of a pipe onto a balcony, which in turn led to the water overflowing into the condominium unit.
Many believe the issue stems from problems with the rainwater drainage pipe that helps channel water to the ground from above floors during heavy rainfall.
“The cause is that there is only 1 pipe to drain balconies. And it regurgitates when it rains heavily due to the water pressure from the top being dropped into that 1 pipe.”
“The balcony rainwater outlet is either clogged or broken.”
Others shared their disbelief that even living in high rise buildings will not stop you from experiencing the floods.
“Even high rise houses are not safe anymore.”
While we’re still shocked to see how even a high rise building unit can flood during the heavy rains, our hearts go out to the unit owner who has to deal with the entire mess.
We hope that the developers of the building look into fixing the problem.
