For frontliners who continue to work while we remain indoors at home, many sacrifices have to be made for the sake of ensuring that our essential services continue to operate. One such service is of course, food delivery, as many of us staying indoors will come to rely upon for meals every day. As a result, food deliverymen wind up working around the clock during this period, sparing no expense to deliver hot piping food to our doorstep.
Apparently for one food deliveryman in Wuhan, China, the Covid-19 pandemic has left him so incredibly busy, he couldn’t even take time out of his work to celebrate his birthday.
However, one kind, anonymous customer who was using the food delivery service coincidentally decided that they would extend a kind gesture to the food deliveryman as a form of appreciation. Without knowing it was his birthday, the customer coincidentally ordered him a cake. The delivery rider, oblivious to what was going on, went to collect the cake as instructed.
But upon reaching the cashier, he was told that the cake he collected, was actually a gift for him on behalf of his customer!
Completely bewildered, he even asked the cashier numerous times if there had been a mistake, and whether if the cake really was for him.
“He kept asking if someone really bought the cake for him, and I told him each time, yes. Someone bought the cake for you.”
The note from the customer reads: “I ordered one extra piece for the food delieryman. Please remember to eat on time.”
Taken aback by his emotions, the food deliveryman then left the bakery with his birthday cake and sat down, before breaking down in tears as he wished himself happy birthday by the side of a street and blowing out his birthday candle.
The video, which was shared over Chinese social media platform Weibo, has attracted a viral following, with many people touched by the incredibly sweet gesture.
We don’t know about you guys, but we definitely need some tissues after reading this story. BRB.
