Let’s face it, this current generation loves a good meme or pun. In fact, businesses are beginning to understand that a good meme or pun is now part of Gen Z’s new language and they are beginning to incorporate it in their marketing schemes.

A great example would be a restaurant located in Singapore called Saffrons.

Recently, one of the owners of the restaurant, Ridjal Noor, took on to his Facebook to share the creative staff shirts that they wear when on duty at the restaurant. What’s so special about these shirts you may ask?

It has a bunch of different pickup lines and puns written on each of their staffs’ shirts! Here are some of our favourites…

Without a doubt, Ridjal’s post has since gone viral and has even gotten the attention of the Malaysian audience too. And to be honest, their creative idea deserves the hype!

About Saffrons

World of Buzz got in touch with Ridjal and had the privilege to hear more about his restaurant.

“My brother, Rafsanjani, is the one who came up with the idea to put witty one-liners on the back of the uniform of our staffs,” he told World of Buzz.

“Saffrons is a family business, started by my mom in 1995, I’m the eldest son. So far we have 3 locations in Singapore – 2 in Tampines and 1 in Opera Estate,” he said.

Saffrons was established in 1995 by Madam Beevi Ayoob, Ridjal’s single mother, with a strong desire to provide a better life for herself and her 4 children. She took the bold move to start her food business. Prior to starting Saffrons, she had been a housewife for 17 years.

Today, many people are in love with Saffrons’ dishes such as briyani (#goldclassbriyani), mee goreng, rojak, tulang, prata and many more beloved Singaporean staples which are a daily part of many Singaporeans lives. This is how we Malaysians feel about our beloved mamaks!
