Orangutans may look be cuddly and gentle creatures but it is also important to remember that they are wild animals who are strong and can pack quite a punch.

Hence it is why it is important to be wary when confronted with the animal.

Netizen, @Jack_Torr, took to his TikTok account to showcase an ‘escaped’ orangutan at the Semenggoh Wildlife Centre in Sarawak. Though, what makes this situation frustrating is the fact that visitors seemed to ignore the wildlife centre staff, telling them to quickly move away for their own safety, because they want to capture the orangutan on camera.

In the TikTok video, the staff member could be seen telling the visitors to move away from the ‘escaped’ orangutan.

We say ‘escaped’ because in reality, the orangutans at the Semenggoh Wildlife Centre are allowed to roam free. Though the visitors should still listen to the staff member’s instructions.

“This one is aggressive. Come on, come on, come on. This one is the big boss in here. Just move, move, move, move, move. Move over there,” he said, with a hint of panic in his voice.

Yet, the visitors remained close, only moving a couple of steps away while holding their phones up to record as the orangutan came closer.

The staff member then ushered the people away.

“Faster, faster, faster.”

“Actually, this is for your safety. Just to make sure your keep your distance from the orangutans,” he added.

Netizens have since condemned the visitors for not taking the staff member’s instructions seriously.
