Never jump to conclusions before knowing the truth behind a story. In this case, a conclusion was immediately made after the meaning of one particular word was deeply misconstrued.

One of the things that you should do before applying for the eMadani RM100 credit is to check if you’re eligible for the e-Wallet money. Once you have applied for the benefit, the government will run a check on your application and your eligibility. That’s it. However, a recent WhatsApp claiming that eMadani is a form of support of LGBT by the government has gone viral.

What’s the “evidence” to this conspiracy theory? It has been right under our nose – the word “eligibility”, which is according to the viral WhatsApp message.

In a tweet shared by @LagaCawan, the WhatsApp conversation highlighted the word “eligibility”, and the person who initially spread the message believed that the word means LGBT. Well, it does sound somewhat similar but that does not mean it carries the same definition.

“A subtle move by the government in encouraging us to support the LGBT community,” the person said in the wildly misleading text.

According to the tweet, a group of people believed that e-Wallet was an effort to steal Malaysians’ data, and today, the same group of people believes that eMadani RM100 credit was a support to the LGBT.

“English education is important”

In what was supposed to be an effort to ease the life of the B40 group, netizens were dumbfounded by the belief that claims the effort was also a support to the LGBT.

“They shouldn’t have skipped English lessons in the past.”

“I think if we were to compare these people to frogs, frogs are smarter.”

“Please tell me this is just a parody. They can’t be this stupid.”

“It saddens me that people are falling for it.”

On the other hand, to those who are eligible, have you successfully claimed the RM100 e-wallet?
