A recent video making the rounds online shows a man getting into a heated altercation with Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) officers after they issued a site evacuation notice.

In the video, the man was wielding a machete and hurling insults at DBKL enforcement officers while being calmed down by members of the public at the scene. According to Harian Metro, he was later arrested following the incident.

They were informed to vacate the area back in January

In response to the incident, DBKL released a statement explaining that hawkers in Desa Pandan were instructed to vacate the area along Jalan 2/76 as early as January to make way for road upgrading works.

To facilitate the project, DBKL said it had coordinated the relocation process for traders operating in the affected area.

The process was carried out through engagement sessions and the distribution of official notices to all relevant parties, including traders’ associations and the traders themselves.

A total of 9 traders have been affected

Engagement sessions were held with both residents and traders to provide details and clarify the purpose of the project.

According to DBKL, the demolition was initially scheduled to begin on 15 July 2025, but the operation was postponed due to disturbances at the site.

“A total of nine traders are affected by the proposed road alignment. All were officially notified on 15 January 2025 and were asked to vacate the site within the given timeframe. A formal evacuation notice was later issued on 4 July 2025, ahead of the planned demolition,” the statement read.

DBKL further emphasised that the entire evacuation process was carried out transparently and in an orderly manner, in line with existing procedures, which included engagement with all relevant parties.
