It doesn’t really matter if a method is old or new. If it works, then that’s all that matters but unfortunately, this is a modus operandi that car thieves are using.

According to a report by New Straits Times, carjackers are seemingly bringing back an old ploy into play by stealing the vehicle registration plate in their twisted game. Here’s how their tactic works.

Solo women drivers, especially, do take note because this may save your life.

The carjackers will follow the victim’s vehicle to the parking lot and wait for the victim to leave the car, and this is when they take action.

They will remove the license plate from the victim’s car and patiently wait around the corner, like prey waiting for its targeted victim. When the unlucky soul returns, they will once again follow the car and try to take over the victim, showing and telling them about the “missing plate number.”

A license registration plate is 1 of the most crucial part of a vehicle and under normal circumstances, victims are highly likely to stop by the road to get their plate number back. And here’s when the danger comes in.

The carjackers are usually armed and this is when they will hijack the victim’s car, and speed off, leaving the victim helpless and alone.

A Whatsapp message about this old tactic recently circulated on social media, and many are urging the public to spread this news around. Hoax or not, it’s better to be safe than sorry and it’s nothing something impossible.
