Purchasing a new home marks a significant milestone, whether it’s for residence or investment purposes. That’s why selecting the right property agent is crucial.
In the recent online story circulating about the property agent who made racist remarks to an individual named Kalvin while inquiring about a house, the incident has garnered attention from numerous netizens.
In the conversation, Kalvin advised the property agent to maintain politeness in their interactions. In response, he expressed his unwillingness to work with individuals who are Indian or Punjabi.
He eventually broke his silence and chose to share an apology video on his personal X (Twitter) account, @alanchia1993 following his dismissal and the considerable backlash from netizens that ensued after his exposure.
In the video, he expresses,
“First and foremost, I’d like to take this opportunity to apologise to all my Indian and Punjabi friends, as well as Ms. Kalvin.”
The property agent acknowledged and apologised for making racist remarks to Kalvin on WhatsApp. He also clarified that it wasn’t his intention to hurt her or anyone else.
“This issue involved many parties, primarily my Indian friends. I acknowledge that my actions were wrong, and I have come to realise that my attitude and behavior were completely unacceptable.”
Netizens quickly filled the comments section of his post, sharing their opinions on the situation as they were not pleased about what he had done.
However, some users acknowledged his apology and expressed gratitude for his willingness to apologise.
“Thank you for your apology, I hope it’s sincere. Let’s refrain from causing harm or judging people based on their skin colour or race. Take this as a learning opportunity and move forward. We can’t choose who or what we are born as.”
