Patrons of a Tomyam stall in Penang were shocked when they saw a live rat nibbling away on a fried chicken that was hung at a window sill of a stall.
The disgusting footage shared by Penang Kini was believed to have been recorded at a Tomyam stall situated at the Bayan Lepas Industrial Park, beside the Zoomic factory.
The status, which saw a total of 129k views and 1.4k shares, notes that visitors who frequent the area will be able to recognize which stall the incident happened at.
Here is footage from the video.
In the 30-second video, the silhouette of a rat can be seen braving the public eye and completely oblivious to the fact that it does not belong behind the window sill.
With patrons clearly shocked at the sight, not much is done as the video ends at the 30-second mark.
Surely anyone would think twice to eat at the same stall, or even try their delicious chicken.
With problems like this, it’s no wonder why our standard of street food is losing out to Singapore and Thailand.
We sincerely hope that the state Health Department and local authorities will check on the situation and take action to help improve sanitation and cleanliness of the premise.
