This is not the right way to maximise your profit!

A sugar cane juice vendor was recently caught red-handed for mixing contaminated syrup with sugar cane juice through simple modification on her machine. This shocking incident happened in Shenzhen, China.

According to Sinchew and Today Online, an urban management official was patrolling the street when he noticed the crooked vendor producing five servings of sugar cane juice with just one stick of sugar cane.

The vendor even proudly claimed that each stick of the sugar cane could produce up to five cups of “fresh, all natural” juice! Yeah right!

Intrigued by what he saw, the officer then approached the illegal vendor for clarification. He dismantled the juicing machine and discovered a plastic container hidden under the wooden plank. The machine and the container were connected by a tube.

Upon opening the container, the officer was immediately put off by the smell coming out of it. It was reported that the container was used to hold some pale-yellowish syrup. Perhaps the more disgusting part was that there were dead worms floating in the syrup! Grosssss!

The vendor finally came clean and said that the syrup was mixed with the sugar cane juice. In fact, the vendor could easily mix the juice with the syrup during the squeezing process.

A spokesperson from the local authorities said the dishonest vendor has been operating within the area for some time. Despite being exposed multiple times, the incorrigible seller refuses to turn over a new leaf.

As such, the authorities now urge local consumers to be aware of her for the sake of their health. Also, it was reported that the juice has even been sold to children as well!

Anyway, we hope our local vendors won’t resort to this method to maximise their profit. Also, if you see a vendor making five servings of juice using only one stick of sugar cane, you know something is wrong somewhere!
