Anyone who has spent too much time on YouTube knows REACT, an American channel where they react to anything and everything.

Recently, they shared a video titled ‘Americans Try Indonesian Food For The First Time‘, where their cast reacted to Indonesian food and one dish in particular caught our attention. Yeap, it’s Nasi Lemak.

For the video, the channel showed their cast videos of how Indonesian dishes are made before actually giving them the dish to taste in person.

The 6th dish they showcased appeared to be either Nasi Uduk or Nasi Ambeng, but weirdly enough, when it came time to give the cast members the dish, they were given Nasi Lemak.

“Nasi Lemak is a fragrant rice cooked with coconut milk and pandan leaves. It’s often served with sambal as well as other proteins, cucumbers, peanuts and pickled vegetables or achar, and small fried anchovies called ikan bilis,” the channel’s producer shared.

The Malaysian in us were screaming at this point.

Thankfully, there were some netizens who took notice of this too and pointed out the mistake.

We obviously don’t have to tell you what Nasi Lemak is.

Nasi Uduk is normally served with tempe, potatoes, vegetables and krechek (cow’s skin) while Nasi Ambeng is normally served with tempe, fried long beans, vermicelli noodles, tofu, fried brinjals with dried prawns and more.

It’s safe to say that Nasi Lemak and Nasi Uduk or Nasi Ambeng are not the same dishes.
