Looking for a parking spot can always be hectic, regardless of where you are. But does it make sense to park beside the traffic light, where it may cause confusion to some drivers?

Just recently, a Malaysian, Eunice posted on a Facebook group and showed an image of a Myvi parked beside a traffic light in Setapak.

“Bro, who taught you to park your car like this?”

In the caption, Eunice also said that the driver should’ve at least thought about others before they park their vehicles at the roadside. She also welcomed anyone who saw the post to report the incident to authorities like JPJ or DBKL.

The incident took place at a traffic light near a college in Setapak, KL.

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Eunice said that the Myvi driver is not the only one who happily parked his car beside the traffic light.

“Every day, different people will park beside the traffic light. Yes, it does not obstruct traffic but it becomes a blind spot for other drivers, which is very dangerous.”

She added that she doesn’t mind when people park their vehicles by the road but said parking beside the traffic light is just too much.

“If I hit your car, or if you hit somebody else because of this, who should be responsible?” she asked.

Eunice also told WORLD OF BUZZ that some of the students from the college park beside the traffic light simply because it’s convenient for them. She explained that DBKL has issued summons many times, but to no avail.

“Each summon is only RM15, with a discount of RM5 for the earlybird payers. The fee to remove the clamp is only Rm50.”

Eunice, who just moved to the area last year also provided WORLD OF BUZZ a video to show how many cars that park near the traffic light.

Eunice explained that other drivers have to make a U-turn from the second lane into the second lane on the other side.

“Unfortunately, the summons are not changing things. In fact, the drivers seem to have gone more overboard, as if the summons mean nothing to them.”

If you’re frequently in the area, are you one of the victims who are troubled by these cars that are parked near the traffic light? Do you think it shouldn’t be a problem if they’re not obstructing traffic, or do you think roadsides are not meant for parked cars?
