Recently, Malaysian philanthropist Kuan Chee Heng (or more affectionately known as Uncle Kentang), took to his Facebook page to share his displeasure with restaurants that require customers, especially elderly customers, to scan QR codes to view their menu.

He wrote, “Hello! I am most lazy to go to restaurants that ask me to scan (QR codes for menus). Sometimes, the images in the phone can be small. We are old, short-sighted and have small eyes. Restaurants that are caring will provide menus for senior citizens. We are the old school group.”

Uncle Kentang also posted a short video of him further explaining that restaurants can have both a QR code menu and physical menus for the convenience of the elderly. Should they have both alternatives, these restaurants can even include a ‘senior citizen-friendly’ signage at their premises.
Malaysian netizens were divided
While some agreed with Uncle Kentang’s sentiment, some believed that the elderly should learn to adapt.

What do you think? Should restaurants keep physical menus for the elderly, or should the elderly learn to adapt to changing times?
