The United Nations on Tuesday (2 May 2023) awarded the personnel of the Malaysian Battalion (MALBATT) 850-10 for their peacekeeping service in Lebanon last year.
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan lauded the recognition, asserting that it showcased our military’s ability to maintain peace.
Taking to Twitter, Mohamad Hasan congratulated MALBATT 850-10 for the United Nations Service Medal, saying,
“I would like to express my congratulations and pride to all members of the MALBATT 850-10 Contingent on receiving the medal.”
“This is proof of the Contingent’s excellence and high commitment to carrying out the tasks and responsibilities as a peacekeeping force under the United Nations.”
The Defence Minister also congratulated MALBATT 850-10 Commander Col Mohd Rizman Ramli and all the members of the Contingent for carrying out their duties outstandingly in Lebanon and making Malaysia proud.
Besides that, Mohamad Hasan also shared a video of MALBATT 850-10 receiving the medal at a parade ceremony held at the Marakah Camp Parade Ground in South Lebanon.

MALBATT 850-10 consists of 84 officers and 770 personnel of various ranks from the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF).
They alongside 30 members from the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) were part of the year-long peacekeeping mission in Lebanon from 12 November 2023.
