This story just serves to remind us that our health is one of the most priceless things we can possess. According to Mothership, an Uber driver who had been working two jobs recently passed away due to overwork.
Apparently, the tragic incident happened when he was driving a passenger from Changi airport in the evening and was sending him home when he suddenly felt unwell. The 60-year-old driver, Wang Yong Qing quickly stopped the car for their safety.
However, things must have quickly deteriorated from there because at around 7.05pm, his male passenger realised something was not right and called for an ambulance. Wang was sent to the Changi General Hospital for treatment but unfortunately, he passed away shortly after. RIP, Wang.
His older brother, Wang Yong Shun, 62, told Shin Min Daily News that Wang was working two jobs a day and getting less than five hours of sleep every day. He had started working with Uber just half a year ago but during the day, he was a transport driver who would ferry construction workers around.
When his day job ended at 5pm, he would start driving for Uber and would only reach home at around 1am daily. That’s a very, very long day! His brother was shocked when the police notified him of Wang’s death as Wang was single and both brothers were living together.
While Wang had always looked to be in the pink of health, it was only recently that his double-jobbing had allegedly caused him to be more tired than usual. His brother also said that three weeks before his death, it was getting harder and harder to wake him up in the mornings. Sounds like an exhausting cycle. 🙁
Remember to take care of your health, everyone! It isn’t worth it to lose your life for that extra bit of money. Our deepest condolences to Wang’s family and friends.
