The Turkiye earthquake death toll had passed the 46,000 mark and it is sad to say that the rescue operations are still undergoing and the number will probably continue to increase.

This death toll is only for human beings, and we’re sure many pets were also caught in the disaster.

Recently, a Turkish firefighter had gone viral for saving a cat that was trapped under the earthquake rubble.

In the video posted by Ukrainian official Anton Gerashchenko on Twitter, we see a man with a bicycle helmet and goggles on. A black and white cat sits obediently on his shoulder while he holds a cup in his other hand.

This video had accumulated more than 10 million views.

It is said that the cat was trapped for 10 days and nights before the firefighter rescued it. After that, the cat did not leave the man’s side, reported ABC7.

It turns out that the firefighter is Ali Cakas who is also the coach for the Turkish national mountain bike team.

With the cat stuck to his side, Ali made the decision to adopt it and brought it home with him.

Through his Instagram posts, we can see that the pair is now inseparable and the monochrome cat now goes by “Enkaz” which means ‘rubble’ in Turkish.

This is such a heartwarming story and we pray for those affected by the earthquake.
