A man turned aggressive after a pregnant woman and her husband reprimanded him for smoking at a restaurant in Shah Alam

The complainant, who is an 8-month pregnant woman, reported that while she and her husband were at the restaurant, a local man sitting at a nearby table was smoking a cigarette.

“Investigations found that the complainant, who is pregnant, was unhappy with the act because she was worried that it would affect her health and her pregnancy. Initially, the complainant and her husband asked the restaurant worker to reprimand the suspect, but it was ignored,”

“The complainant’s husband also reprimanded the suspect 3 times, and was also ignored. However, on the 3rd reprimand, the suspect immediately got up and approached the complainant’s table,” he said.

The pregnant woman claimed that the suspect blew cigarette smoke at her, causing her to become angry while her husband tried to defend her. She then tried to record the situation as evidence in case her husband got hurt.

“An argument ensued, and the suspect swatted at the complainant’s hand that was holding her phone, causing her phone to fall. The argument then turned into a push-pull incident, and the suspect proceeded to leave the restaurant.”

The police are looking for the suspect

After checking the CCTV footage from the restaurant, the police were able to identify the suspect. Efforts are currently underway to trace his whereabouts.

“The police have opened an investigation under Section 323 of the Penal Code. The case is also being investigated under Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955 for misconduct that provides for a fine not exceeding RM100,” he said.

Individuals with further information about this case are asked to contact Investigating Officer Sergeant Rafiah Isa at 012-3770327.
