Kuching, Sarawak, has always been affectionately associated with cats, with many believing that the city was named after the Malay word for cat, ‘kucing’.

So, it’s only fair that the city is run by cats, right?

The Datuk Jahat Hensem Twitter page recently shared how Plaza Merdeka, a shopping mall in Kuching, has a ‘cat boss’ named Hassan, that rides around the mall in a stroller that’s pushed by the mall’s security guards.

They wrote, “The biggest boss at Plaza Merdeka, Kuching, is Hassan. Security (guards) will push him around the mall everyday using a stroller because he wants to check if all the staff members are working hard. But, he himself is a heavy sleeper. Anyone coming to Kuching should visit Hassan at Plaza Merdeka, Kuching.”

In the video showcased, a security guard could be seen petting Hassan as he sleeps soundly in his stroller.

And guess what? Hassan isn’t the only cat at the mall.

It turns out that he shares his ‘boss’ position with 2 other cats, named Boboi and Anesa. They’re often dressed in traditional attire as they’re paraded around the mall with their very own entourage!

“Big bosses, the real owners and Board of ‘Catdirector‘ of Plaza Merdeka in Kuching, Sarawak. They even have their own personal bodyguards. Hassan, Boboi and Anesa,” Datuk Jahat Hensem added.

It’s obvious that the 3 cats are very well taken care of by the mall’s security personnel.

We’re honestly planning to fly to Kuching just to see Hassan, Boboi and Anesa in action as they patrol the mall to ensure the businesses there are running smoothly.

Do you think all mall should have animal mascots? Do feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section.
