Despite the improvements in progress, the LRT train service has been notorious for its disruption lately. Last month alone, the LRT train service was disrupted three times which upset the users.
Just yesterday morning (15 June), as if the decreased train frequency during peak hours is not bad enough, the train users had to endure another service disruption which immediately caused a “congestion” at the LRT Pasar Seni station.
While waiting for the train, the crowds increased over time, and the queue stretched all the way to the moving escalators.
An LRT train user has since shared an image and a video via his Twitter account that showcases the hectic situation at Pasar Seni station.
The image shows the crowds by the escalator, and the video illustrates the rampage as those coming up had to shove those already on the crowded floor.
In one of his tweets, he said that some people on their way up from the escalator immediately “crashed” into the waiting crowds, which explained why they had to push each other forward. RapidKL had also responded to his tweet and apologised for the inconvenience caused.
“We take note of this & we have informed the relevant parties to improve the crowd control,” RapidKL said.
RapidKL, this is disastrous!
Meanwhile, another affected train user also took to her Twitter account and shared a few images of the crowds waiting for the train at the same station.
“What disaster is this? What’s with the 5 minutes frequency and the bloody escalator? What is wrong with you, RapidKL?” she tweeted her disappointment.
She then shared the schedule of LRT train frequencies obtained from RapidKL’s website. The delay in train frequencies is said to be due to the upgrading works, and when asked how long this will last, RapidKL gave no response.
With train frequencies delayed by 5 to 10 minutes, the differences matter, especially to people rushing to work during peak hours. The frequent service disruptions are definitely NOT HELPING!
Are you among the affected train users? What do you think about the LRT train service, and what improvement will you suggest to the relevant parties?
