While many Malaysians are engrossed with the updates following Najib’s arrest, a close family member has decided to request the people’s sympathy over the man’s arrest through a social media post. And that person is none other than his daughter!

According to Malaysiakini, Nooryana Najwa Najib shared an Instagram post defending her father’s innocence whilst urging Malaysians to keep her beloved father in our thoughts as he gets prosecuted by the authorities today (4 July 2018).

“Let’s just think of him this one time when he needs us the most. You can paint a man black, but Allah knows. If it can happen to our leaders, it can [also] happen to anyone of us… nevertheless we believe Allah is not sleeping,” she wrote after acknowledging her father’s compassionate and loving nature.

Prior to that, she also mentioned that Najib never forgets about the people as we are always on his mind.

“For 42 years, he has thought of the rakyat when he wakes up from sleep until he goes to bed.”

“He has more emotional and mental strength than all of us put together. Even in the face of adversity today, he smiled, laughed and gave us all a hug… [he] worried more for the family than himself,” she shared.

She ended her heartfelt IG post with four hashtags – #freenajib, #respectcivilliberties, #thestruggleisreal and #pray4dsn – to further strengthen her message.

It’s no doubt that this situation is tough on Najib’s family, especially for his children. However, the authorities must have their reasons for arresting the former prime minister. With that, let’s hope that Najib will be tried justly as the case furthers.
