With the increase in food prices, the struggle to put food on the table is real. That is why it is so heartwarming to see kind and generous individuals take the initiative to help those in need.
For example, this porridge vendor who offered to give out free porridge to those in need and this restaurant in Sepang offering free tea to food delivery riders.
It also seems like this act of F&B vendors giving out food for free is becoming a trend! Recently, Asip Burger Bachang, a burger stall in Melaka went viral for a notice they put up to help the underprivileged.
The notice says, “If you don’t have money to buy food, please let us know. There’s no need to be hungry, we’ll give you a burger for free.”
How sweet is that?!
What inspired you?
We were so touched by the stall’s generosity that we reached out to Asip, the co-owner of Asip Burger Bachang that he and his brother, Ariff operate.
“We know what it feels like not having money“, Asip told WORLD OF BUZZ when asked what inspired him to put up the notice.
He said that customers who paid extra for their orders also encouraged him to start giving out burgers for free.
“Some customers pay me extra as a form of contribution so that I can give out free burgers to the needy”, he said, adding that those who are underprivileged do not eat much. “Just one burger is enough to stave off their hunger.”
“They are understanding”
So far, Asip and his brother have not faced any major challenges to their initiative. Instead, the real challenge is only starting now due to their going viral.
He says that they are able to keep giving out free burgers because of their stable income and their customers’ attitude.
“Right now, I already have some ‘regular customers’ who come to ‘claim’ the free burger. They don’t do it every day, just twice a month. Those who are struggling understand.”
“They usually only come at the end of the month. There’re also some customers who pay us back when they have enough money.”
Regardless of everything, Asip says that he just really enjoys feeding people.
“Just don’t take advantage of me and our business lah.”
It’s so heartwarming to see Malaysians helping one another! Hopefully Asip will be able to keep his initiative going.
