Fishing can be therapeutic when you enjoy the silence. The serenity, however, can immediately vanish if things don’t go your way.

In a TikTok post by @heynix_, a Malaysian man, Nik showed how things can take an unexpected turn when you least expect it. He recently went fishing at a lake and when something caught his bait, Nik excitedly held his fishing rod and continuously turned the handle.

He summoned all his strength by turning the handle and pulling the fishing rod and just when he thought the fish was going to surface, his fishing rod CRACKED and broke!

The handle got separated from the entire fishing rod, and the big fish that took the bait didn’t make it to the surface.

Nik tried to salvage his fishing rod by pulling the it up but the big fish was still stuck on the bait. With more force, he pulled it harder, and once again, CRACK! The fishing rod broke into 3.

This time, the front part of the fishing rod, AKA the butt part broke and fell into the lake. Nik regretted the incident but instead of venting, he actually laughed (possibly his coping mechanism, who knows).

In a brief conversation with WORLD OF BUZZ, Nik said he recently went fishing at Tasik Kenyir in Terengganu, where he caught a big fish that didn’t make it to the surface. When asked about the unsalvageable fishing rod, Nik said the equipment didn’t cost him that much.

“It was around RM90. I bought in on Shopee.”

Nik also told WORLD OF BUZZ that the fish was too big for the fishing rod to handle, which explained why it broke.

You can watch the clip below and see how a therapeutic moment turned “tragic”.
