Hit-and-run cases are pretty common in Malaysia and it takes an honest and selfless person to own up to their mistakes just like how this kind lady did!
In a Facebook post, Cheong shared how he found a note on his car on 12 November from a lady who apologised for causing damage to his car.
The note said:
“Dear owner, please accept my sincere apologies for scraping your front bumper (left side) as I was reverse parking.”
“I can help send your car to get it polished looking new. Really sorry and forgive me for the inconvenience caused.”
Cheong said that he was touched by this lady’s kindness as she could have easily run away and escaped paying for anything.
“Even though she could have just easily run away, she decided to write this letter and pay for the damages,” he said.
He then urged members of the public if they had any suggestions on places where he could get a fair and reasonable price for the repairs as he wanted to help the lady as well so she won’t get cheated.
WORLD OF BUZZ reached out to Cheong and he shared that he met up with the lady and went to the workshop during lunch time today (13 November).
He said that he will be leaving his car at the workshop tomorrow morning (14 November) and the process would take about two to three days. Although he is uncertain about the cost of the repairs, he said that after cleaning and washing, the damage isn’t that bad.
Cheong then expresses how touched he is by the lady’s kindness.
“Her kindness is what touches everyone’s heart,” he told WORLD OF BUZZ.
“I would love to pay for myself too, since she’s so honest, but in September I got hit-and-run twice and the damages amounted to about RM1,000 plus,” he said.
“But if this time the damage is not expensive, I would consider paying for it myself as well.”
“I plan to buy her some gifts or maybe treat her to something nice too.”
Cheong went on to disclose how the lady had even sent him visual instructions on how to get to the workshop she had chosen to get his car fixed.
“Before I went to the workshop, she even did this so that I wont get lost. That extra effort though,” he told WORLD OF BUZZ.
It’s so rare to find kindhearted people like this nowadays. We hope this lady will receive many good things in life for her kind deed towards Cheong. Never stop spreading kindness as the world really needs it during this time.
