A 21-year-old social media influencer in Thailand tragically passed away on December 26 after taking on a paid dare that left him looking unwell shortly after.
According to the Bangkok Post, Thanakarn Kanthee, also known as Bank Leicester, was well-known for taking on challenges to earn money to support his struggling family.
He chugged a bottle of whisky for RM3.9k
Thanakarn decided to take on a drinking challenge for 30,000 baht (approximately RM3.9k), where he had to chug a 350ml bottle of whisky at a party.
The Bangkok Post shared how a video of him chugging whisky straight from the bottle while a crowd cheered has been making rounds online.
Right after finishing the dare, he started looking unwell, reportedly threw up, and was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3:40 AM.
Netizens labelled the risky dare as “rubbish content”
The Bangkok Post shared how a Facebook page showed partygoers laughing as rescuers carried Thanakarn on a stretcher to the ambulance, with many commenters calling them out for being heartless.
After his passing, many netizens slammed the dangerous dare, describing it as “rubbish content” and urging people to stop sharing such posts online.
Thanakarn was raised by his grandma in a Bangkok slum after his parents split when he was just 2 months old. By age 7, he was already selling garlands at the flea market on Ram Intra Road to help support himself and his grandma.
