Arguably one of the most common sights to emerge out of the Covid-19 crisis now is the rise of delivery services such as Grab, as an increasing number of us depend on our abang-abang riders to help bring our groceries or food to our doorstep. As such, many kind souls across the world have taken it upon themselves to treat these hard-working frontliners with kind gestures, such as buying them cake on their birthday.
Well, apparently this movement of spreading the kindness has become so increasingly popular, even big companies are catching on! According to popular Thai Facebook group @poetryofwawanat, GrabFood’s Thai counterpart has kick-started an initiative to help out food delivery riders in the country by allowing customers to order a free meal to share with their food delivery rider, completely free of charge!
In order to share the kindness with a free meal, all users have to do is open up their Grab app and select ‘Food’ as per usual, before selecting the ‘Buy 1 Share 1’ option.
This option will then show a list of participating restaurants offering the promotion for your selection. Each restaurant offers a different meal promotion, with some restaurants offering full meals while other eateries such as bubble tea shops offering free cups of bubble tea.
Once you’ve made your choice, your food delivery rider will collect your order as per usual, while also receiving a treat of his or her own!
The initiative has been warmly received by many users, with many applauding the company for showing gratitude to their riders who work night and day to help ease everyone’s transition into the ‘new normal’. After all, every little bit counts, and we have no idea how a kind gesture like this can help brighten up your rider’s day!
So what do you guys think of this new development?
