House prices are soaring at ridiculously high rates these days, which means many of us can’t really afford to buy houses. If you bought a house a few years back, the prices have probably increased tremendously.

No matter how much the price of your house has increased, you certainly won’t be able to beat this family in Terengganu!

According to NST, house No. 19 at Kampung Ladang, Tanjung, along Jalan Sultan Zainal Abidin has gotten a lot of attention after its owners have asked for RM20 million from the state government to buy over their land. OMG, so much money!

The old kampung house is the last one standing in the middle of the land that is earmarked for the multi-billion ringgit Kuala Terengganu City Centre (KTCC) development, but the Wan Yusop family are not budging from their home.

Their 80-year-old wooden bungalow is right in the middle of the RM4.5 billion development land while their other neighbours have since moved out. The developers want them to move and said that they are negotiating with the family to reach a reasonable solution.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman said, “All the other occupants of the land have moved out and appropriately compensated. There is no court case involving this last house and we hope to find a solution soon.”

Nevertheless, one of the family members, 65-year-old Wan Mokhtar, said that the family would not budge from the house if their demands are not met. He said that they would only move out from their longtime family home if they received RM20 million in compensation.

Even as negotiations are ongoing, heavy machinery and construction workers are already working on the 11-hectare piece of land. KTCC is said to be able to boost tourism in Terengganu with a hotel, service apartment, SOHO, shopping mall and theme park.

Guess the memories in the Wan Yusop family home are truly priceless!
