We all know the moment of dread when your luggage weighs more than the weight limit.

These Australian girls who were taking a Jetstar flight weighed their luggage and found out that they were about 6KG over the limit. The limit for Jetstar flights is set at 7KG.

So, they decided to do what many other people on the Internet have done- wear the excess clothes so that they don’t have to pay the excess baggage fees.

In a TikTok video that has gone viral posted by one of the girls, Adriana, we can see them with their luggage open and putting each article of clothing on while laughing in public.

“The whole airport was staring at us.”

When they were finally done, they still needed to pay the fine. According to The New York Post, the fine was 65AUD (RM197).

“Everyone in line was staring at us and laughing at us, it was kind of embarrassing. People were annoyed that we were holding the plane up.”

After paying, both of them still needed to brave through the 80-minute flight from Melbourne to Adelaide. Adriana herself had taken out several layers of clothes and stuffed them into her tote bag while her friend remained wrapped in the layers.

It seems that the duo had initially thought that the airlines wouldn’t check their overweight luggage but they were in for a surprise when the airline staff rolled out a weighing machine.

The airlines had also issued a statement saying: “While we certainly see the funny side, we have limits to carry-on to make it fair for everyone.”

Have you ever done this or something similar to it? Let us know in the comments.
