After a shocking incident where Surau Nurul Haq’s only hearse was stolen and wrecked in an accident, the community in Kampung Sungai Sayong 1 received a much-needed boost today with a total of RM20,000 in donations to help replace the damaged vehicle.
Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching personally contributed RM15,000, while an additional RM5,000 came from local company QR Oyes Sdn Bhd. The donations were handed over during a ceremony at the surau.

Surau chairman Mohd Anuar Repan expressed deep gratitude, saying the funds would go a long way in helping them acquire a new hearse for the community.
“We’re truly thankful. This donation brings hope to our efforts to replace the van, which was the only one we had,” he said.
The stolen Toyota Hiace van, which had only recently been acquired through a government property disposal process last December, had not yet been used for funeral services.
It was taken in the early hours of Thursday morning by a 21-year-old suspect, who later crashed it into a lorry while attempting to flee along Jalan Skudai. He sustained minor injuries.

Teo, who is also the Member of Parliament for Kulai, said she was moved to act after reading news reports about the surau’s urgent need for a replacement vehicle.
“I approved the allocation immediately, and I’m grateful that a local company also stepped forward. I hope this RM20,000 will help ease their burden,” she said.
Following the incident, the surau management announced plans to search for a suitable used van and called on the public for support.
