Good news guys! Parking tickets may soon be a thing of the past when you’re visiting Sunway Pyramid!

Just yesterday (26 November), the highly popular mall announced on its Facebook page about rolling out a new system that allows customers to enter the mall carpark without taking any ticket.

Here’s the announcement:

“Imagine being able to drive into the carpark, without the need to take a carpark ticket or parking access card. Simply by scanning the vehicle license plate, you can enter!

“Right now, Lion and friends are conducting this license plate recognition system pilot test for selected users in the mall’s carpark to help improve traffic flow.”

Although the payment mode has yet to be revealed, netizens especially those who frequently lepak at that mall are already excited to hear this news as this license plate recognition system could be the solution to the long queues at autopay machines and slow traffic flow at the entrance and exit of the carpark.

However, some concerned netizens pointed out that car thieves could easily drive out the stolen vehicles if no parking ticket is required. Also, duplicated number plates could be used to deceive the system.

Addressing these issues, Sunway said the system is still being tweaked and tested to tackle such situations so that there would be no loophole to be exploited. Whatever you do Sunway, please don’t impose a surcharge for using this system!

Once the system is ready for the public, we believe more shopping malls will follow suit and when this day comes, we will definitely miss the automated voice from the autopay machines and this iconic line: “Fee is two ringgits.”
