Acing the exams with flying colours is 1 of our dreams as students and 1 of the best (but not so easy) ways to make our parents proud, and they’re usually the first people to get the good news about our results.
A student in Bachok, Kelantan scored 11 As in his SPM examination but he did not go to his school to obtain his result. The student, Syahril didn’t want to because he wanted to spend the time he had to care for his mother who had been battling stroke since 2019. His results were “delivered” to his doorstep by his peers who celebrated his achievement in the exam.
Surprisingly, his peers were not the only ones present to show support. Syahril’s teachers also took the time to visit him and his bedridden mother at home with some gifts. Only God knows how proud Syahril’s mother felt when she received the news about her son’s outstanding result.
Sadly, his mother couldn’t stay long for the celebration. On the night of June 10, Syahril’s mother passed away.
The news got the attention of Bachok MP, Syahir Sulaiman who visited Syahril at his mother’s funeral and shared his experience on his Facebook posts. As much as no one wanted to see their parents leave, Syahril said that he has accepted the fate.
“I accept that my mother is gone forever.”
Syahril’s relatives also said that despite the death in the house, he was calm all the time, and his results were not the only way he could express his love for his late mother. A report by New Straits Times stated that Syahril and his siblings have been relying on each other to care for their late mother since their father passed away.
Before she was buried, Syahril led the prayers for his mother.
As a son, Syahril made his mother proud academically, and how well he cared for her before her passing. We wish nothing but the best for Syahril, and congratulations on achieving straight As in one of his major examinations.
