As a 20-plus-year-old now, remembering the names of Malaysia’s past and current prime ministers in secondary school used to be easy. There were only four or five names to remember.
The tough ones were the names of the various British residents, such as the infamous J.W.W. Birch.
However, with so much political turmoil these days, it is difficult to remember even who the current prime minister is.
On August 8, 2022, Sarah shared on her Twitter account a funny story about a particular prime minister that took place between her father and his student.
Her father was interviewing a student, and one of the questions was, “Who is Malaysia’s prime minister?”
The student could barely answer as they tried to recall Ismail Sabri’s name.
So, Sarah’s father helped the student by giving them a hint. He said, “Sabri.”
A light bulb went on in the student’s head, and they said with utmost confidence, “Ahh, Sabri Yunus,” the famous Malaysian actor and comedian.
Sarah also shared screenshots of her conversation with her father, in which they had a good laugh about the student’s innocent mistake.
Sarah also asked her father if the answer made him laugh during the interview, to which he replied, “I covered my laughter by looking at my phone.”
Alas, Sarah’s father did not take the mistake too seriously, and the student passed!
Many netizens were entertained by the student’s incorrect answer and made witty remarks.
“Our PM is a comedian too.”
“The student is not wrong. Malaysia has been changing PMs like changing clothes, so many people are already confused.”
We completely understand the student’s inability to remember the prime minister’s name, especially if you are not someone who reads the news!
