Life as a university student is not a walk in the park with the piling coursework, assessments, and personal issues. But do they grant you the right to vent your anger at the lecturers who are there to educate you?

In a viral image shared on X by @Rusydi_RL, an anonymous student of a Malaysian university sends a “stern” message to all the lecturers, which the student hopes to get the lecturers’ attention before lives are lost.

“To all the lecturers, we’re stressed out and we’re under a lot of pressure! We just don’t tell you about it!”

The letter mentioned the possibility that some students are on the verge of ending their lives, all thanks to what the lecturers have been giving – piling up coursework, assignments, tests, and presentations!

Ah, the good old days of burning the midnight oil as a student and chasing the carry marks which ensured our survival for the semester.

“You’re telling us to do reports. We’re not robots! 6 subjects but 10 courseworks? Do you think that is fair?!” the anonymous student ranted.

The student continued by mentioning the time NOT spent with family members, and “reminded” the lecturers that students, too, have family who are far from home. The writer also suggested the lecturers not to treat them like secondary school teenagers.

“Don’t teach us like we’re still in secondary school. We need to be taught to face the real world and to survive in the working industry, not to be taught on how to answer the exam questions!”

“This stress is nothing when you’re out there working”

We could feel the student’s anger just by reading his tone in the letter. Social media users, on the other hand, are not fond of the content of the letter and call the student a “strawberry generation” who cannot withstand pressure like how they did back then.

“If you know you’re stressed and tired, go get your rest and sleep, not enjoy, dating and watching movies.”

“We used to join the sports team, clubs, and rushed our work after meeting just to get the coupons. We even stayed up to finish our assignments, and weekends were our leisure time.”

“This is only the university. You haven’t known the stress when you’re out there working.”

Another social media user, who is also a student shared the 7 subjects then he’s currently taking with 7 finals pending, and said that he is still surviving.

What were your most stressful moments back then when you were still a student?
