It’s no secret that many people took to their local beach to celebrate the coming of the new year. They wished for the betterment of their lives and left behind the negative things that have happened to them.

Unfortunately, that’s not the only thing they left behind.

The Penang Kini Facebook page took to their profile to showcase piles of rubbish left strewn across one of Penang’s beaches by inconsiderate citizens over New Year’s. The location attached to the post read Batu Feringgi beach.

They wrote, “The holidays are over and now, there’s only rubbish left behind. Thank you to the yellow heroes of MBPP who helped clean the areas around tourist spots during the end of the year festivities.”

The amount of rubbish they managed to collect is truly astonishing. It’s enough to make you wonder, does no one know how to use rubbish bins anymore?

“Many visitors still do not practice or care about the cleanliness of public spaces. They still like to throw rubbish everywhere as they like. Please throw your rubbish away in the designated locations provided,” they added.

Netizens took to the comment section to share their disappointment over the matter.

This comment goes, “Many Malaysians are still uncivilised.”

Trash 5

This comment says, “Our mentalities are still far off from that of the Japanese people.”

There is honestly no point in wishing for the betterment of our lives if we, ourselves, cannot do better. Based on this sad truth about Malaysians, 2021 may very well be no different than 2020, or any other year that has passed.

Rubbish bins are provided for a reason. Please use them accordingly.

What do you think about this? Let us know in the comment section.
