A Malaysian man in his 20s was caught for khalwat with a woman who had dropped out of school at a hotel in Johor Bahru.

Officers from the Johor Religious Department (JAINJ) emphasised that khalwat activities have no place in the state, as they have been actively conducting raids, especially after receiving public tip-offs. This time, JAINJ targeted a hotel in Batu Pahat, where the young man opened the door to the officers about eight minutes later.

The man initially tried to close the door but was stopped by the officers, who then entered the room. He attempted to convince them that he was with a friend. However, the officers noticed someone hiding under a blanket. The woman later emerged, revealing only her head while keeping the rest of her body covered.

“Can’t get married at the moment.”

One of the female JAINJ officers approached the woman and confirmed that she was not married. The officer then handed her clothes so she could change in the washroom.

The couple eventually admitted that they were unmarried.

During questioning, the young man, who lives with his family in the district, said he had checked into the hotel under his own name. He is currently employed, while the woman does not have a full-time job. They revealed that they have been dating for about three years and grew closer and more intimate after she dropped out of school.

“They also admitted to making out on a motorcycle in the past before they had the courage to check into a hotel,” a JAINJ spokesperson said in a viral Facebook post.

“They mentioned that there are no plans to get married yet as they are still young.”

JAINJ later contacted their respective parents to bail them out and advised the young couple to save up for marriage as soon as possible.
