As we eagerly anticipate this Deepavali weekend, all drivers should take note that PLUS tolls will close all value-added lanes at their toll plazas starting tomorrow until 29th October.

According to Berita Harian, PLUS released a statement today justifying the closure of these top-up lanes, as during each festive season, traffic congestion is a major issue faced by road users who wait for drivers lining up to reload their Touch N’ Go on relocation lanes.

“During this festive season PLUS saw a 17 percent increase in traffic to two million on peak days, Friday through Saturday (October 25th-26th) and Monday (October 28th) compared to 1.7 million vehicles on the day.”

“Therefore, the trip to the toll plaza is expected to be affected if there are still users stranded and unable to make toll transactions when their Touch ‘n Go (TnG) card is insufficient. It certainly interferes with the comfort and travel of other users.”

With this in effect, PLUS has advised all highway users to plan their trips accordingly and top-up their TnG cards, making sure you have sufficient balance before hitting the road, especially if you intend to travel across states to visit family members.

While there will no longer be any reloading services at the toll plaza exits, drivers don’t need to panic.

PLUS assures all road users that there is an estimated 10,000 TnG card value centers that are easily accessible around the country including ATMs, R&Rs, petrol stations, supermarkets and department stores that are equipped with reloading service should you find yourself low on TnG balance.

As the use of PayDirect e-Wallet service has yet to take effect, anybody who uses the PLUS Highway frequently is advised to add top-up their TnG card for use in toll transactions on PLUS-operated highways.

Better to be safe than sorry, drivers make sure your TnG cards are loaded up and ready for use!
