Most of us have bills that need to be paid every month and we like to go to the bank to settle our bills, especially for credit cards or any loan installments. If you are one of these people then do take note that starting from April 1, 2019, Public Bank will be charging extra fees if you are using cash or cheques to pay for your credit card bills and loan repayments!

According to an announcement on their website made on September 30, they said that there will be a charge of RM2 if you perform over-the-counter transactions for credit card and loan repayments. That’s not all, even using the Cash Deposit Terminal, Cash Recycling Machine or Cheque Deposit Machine to pay your bills will incur an additional charge of 50 sens instead of RM2.

It is believed that these additional charges are implemented as they want us to move towards a cashless society and perform more of our transactions online. If you don’t want to pay an extra charge when you are making your repayments, you can choose to use standing instructions, instant or interbank transfer through internet or mobile banking and automated teller machines (ATM).

However, Public Bank has taken into consideration the needs of other customers who might need assistance with their payments. They have decided to waive these fees for senior citizens, disabled people and customers who do not have access to Current or Savings account with Public Bank.

Remember this once April 2019 arrives, otherwise, you will have to pay additional charges! Time to go cashless!
