The stories about how some politicians spend their money sometimes amaze the people. This time, the Minister of Youth & Sports admitted to buying not one, but two boats during the Movement Control Order (MCO) back in 2020.

Both boats cost him RM50,000 and RM80,000, respectively. In his Facebook post this evening (November 15), Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu said that he bought the boat from a European sailor who was stranded in our country during the lockdown.

“I guess the sailor was depressed to be alone here, and that’s why he was looking for potential buyers to buy his boats before leaving Malaysia when the border was opened,” Faizal explained.

Faizal also said that the boats were sold to him at cheap prices. But did he buy the boats for his personal use? Of course not!

In his video, Faizal revealed that both boats have been modified for tourism purposes in Langkawi, Kedah. Not only that but Faizal also said thanks to the purchase of the boats, career opportunities were available for the people in Langkawi.

Faizal, who is currently contesting for GE15 in Tambun, Perak posted the video on his Facebook to clarify the “sources” of the boats that were recently circulating on social media.

“I don’t think the purchase is wrong, and I asked my friends with boat businesses to handle them,” he explained.

To Faizal, he was prioritising the career opportunities for the people in Langkawi as it was a chance for some of them to be the captain and the crews of the boats.

Fellow Malaysians in Langkawi, if you’re interested in manning a boat, perhaps the teams that handle Faizal’s boats are still looking for manpower and you might want to give it a try.
