Dogs are usually seen as loyal animals that could help protect the house but as years pass, many people have started treating their dogs like their children and are very protective and careful when it comes to taking care of them.
That being said, some people would also choose to buy instead of adopting as they’d like their dog to look a certain way. Just recently, a woman in Singapore shared her experience of purchasing 2 corgis online.
2 puppy corgis worth $6,400SGD (RM21,480.96)
According to ZaoBao, this Singaporean woman decided to buy 2 puppies from a social media platform, XiaoHongShu.
“I contacted the shop on XHS and decided to buy 2 puppies from them. We have both come to an agreement and they were willing to sell the 2 puppies to me for $6,400SGD (RM21,480.96).”
She also mentioned that the $6,400SGD included some necessities like food for the dogs as well as shipping fees to ship the dogs over.
“I agreed to pay $500SGD (RM1,678.20) as a deposit and once I received the dogs, I would pay the remaining balance”, she added.
Skin infection and worsened conditions
The lady mentioned that once she received the dogs, she realised that the necessities she was promised did not arrive. When she checked with the seller, they mentioned to her that the items will be shipped to her the next day.
She then decided to head out to get some food for her puppies, but the sales assistant told her that her corgis seemed to have some sort of skin issue. The next day, her puppies’ condition worsened, and she decided to take them to the vet.
2 puppies infected with canine virus with 90% mortality rate
Upon bringing the dogs to the vet, it was mentioned that both her dogs have been infected with a canine virus that has a really high mortality rate. This virus has also caused her puppies to have diarrhea and foaming in the mouth.
She mentioned that due to the puppies being sick, she has spent over $12,000SGD (RM40,276.80) on their medical fees. Unfortunately, despite the vets trying their best, the 2 dogs passed away on the 3rd and 4th of November.
“I tried messaging the seller again to ask for some sort of compensation or refund, but they refused to take responsibility for it and have stopped responding to me”, she said.
She added that she suspects that the dogs were illegally shipped from Malaysia as she has seen a few similar cases.
This is a gentle reminder to always try and verify origins of the animal. If you’re able to, please choose to adopt instead as there are plenty of animals in the shelter waiting for a forever home.
