It’s a dream come true when you can make a living by doing something you’re passionate about. But regardless of how deep our love is towards what we do, when it’s time for a break, it’s best to rest when our body “demands” to do so.
Spiderman actor Tom Holland recently announced that he’s taking a 1-year break from acting after having a meltdown from his latest acting role.
Tom plays a character loosely based on “the Campus Rapist” Billy Milligan in his upcoming thriller series The Crowded Room. Judging from the description below, it’s understandable why Tom suffers from meltdown episodes.
“Billy Milligan claimed to have 24 alternate personalities, and he was the first individual to be found not guilty by reason of insanity on the basis of Dissociative Identity Disorder,” a report by The Guardian explained.
Tom is also producing The Crowded Room, and in a recent interview with extratv, he admitted that juggling responsibilities between producer and actor has taken a toll on his mental health. Tom said he’s not a stranger to hard work, but the show broke him.
“There was a time when I went to Mexico, laid low at the beach and had a time for myself. I needed that break.”
He also said that one of the hardest parts of making the series was exploring emotions he had never had in the past. The daily responsibilities as a producer on the film set, as well as the challenges, did not make things easier for him, which elevated his pressure.
And his problems did not end right after the production of The Crowded Room.
Another “side effect” that he had to struggle with was extracting himself from the character because Tom had “absorbed” the character into himself.
“I remember having a bit of a meltdown at home, and I was even going to shave my head to get rid of this character,” he told Entertainment Weekly last month.

The first episode of The Crowded Room was released on AppleTV+ on June 9. With Tom Holland gone for a year, it will take us longer to see him return as Spiderman. We hope that he gets all the rest he deserves!
